Accessing the Hong Kong Training Center

Hong Kong International Airport (IATAHKGICAO: VHHH) is an international airport located on the island of Chek Lap Kok in western Hong Kong.

Hong Kong International Airport operates a three-runway system (3RS). Terminal 1 (T1) handles most mainline and legacy flights. Terminal 2 (T2) has transitioned into a major hub featuring full arrivals/departures, self-check-in technology, and a dedicated Coach Hall linking directly to the Greater Bay Area.

Here are the specific transportation options

  • Airport Express: Departs every 10 minutes from the airport directly to Tsing Yi, Kowloon, and Hong Kong Stations
  • Public Buses (Airport Bus "A" Routes): Cost-effective with routes covering major hotels in Hong Kong Island and Kowloon.
  • Taxis: Readily available outside the Arrivals Hall. Red (Urban) taxis serve most areas.
  • Ferries (Chinese Mainland/Macau): Transit passengers can use the SkyPier for direct high-speed ferry connections to mainland Chinese cities and Macau without passing through Hong Kong immigration.

Getting around Hong Kong is easy and convenient. The most widely used payment method is the Octopus Card (available as a physical card or through Apple Pay and Google Pay), which can be used across the MTR, buses, trams, and ferries. Contactless credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, UnionPay, and American Express) and mobile wallets are also accepted on the MTR and most major bus routes. Cash remains an option for buses, trams, and taxis, although exact change is required on buses as no change is provided. Hong Kong taxis are required to accept at least two electronic payment methods, such as Octopus, Alipay, WeChat Pay, or other QR code-based payment services, making cashless travel more convenient than ever.

The IATA Training Center in Hong Kong is hosted at the Hong Kong Management Association (HKMA).

Core Transport Modes:

  • MTR: The fastest way to get around, covering Hong Kong Island, Kowloon, and the New Territories, with direct lines to the airport and the Mainland border.
  • Buses: Extensive double-decker bus networks serve nearly every neighborhood.
  • Minibuses: 16-seat or 19-seat minibuses. Green minibuses have fixed routes and fares, while red minibuses operate on more flexible routes.
  • Trams: Operating solely on Hong Kong Island, these double-decker streetcars (locally called "Ding Dings") are an iconic, inexpensive, and scenic way to travel.
  • Ferries: The Star Ferry connects Hong Kong Island and Kowloon, offering quick harbour crossings and scenic views.
