Founded in 2019, Accelerate@IATA is a travel tech startup accelerator jointly run by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and Plug and Play. This year, the program has seven airline partners actively  involved and pushing forward key industry priorities through  this innovation platform to support airlines and the value chain partners by accelerating new technology implementation around IATA standards. The airline partners are: Singapore Airlines, Emirates Airlines, Royal Air Maroc, Copa Airlines, Korean Air, International Airlines Group – IAG and  Japan Airlines.

The new and fourth batch of Accelerate@IATA will be focusing on hyper-personalisation and experience marketplace, where airlines can offer their travellers could share their personal  information and travel preferences with any travel distributor or travel supplier while remaining fully in control of the data.

The startups from previous batches and  announced in our previous blog were focusing on Customer as the Reference and Future of Interlining. These startups were invited to attend to an in person focus engagement and educational week , where they were exposed to different session with IATA and value chain subject matter experts. These sessions took place in September at IATA’s executive office in Geneva, Switzerland. They were also invited to showcase their work at the IATA World Passenger Symposium in Bahrain in early November.

If you're in the aviation industry, especially an airline, and interested in joining the program, do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

About the Accelerate@IATA Program and how it works:

The program is designed to give airlines and new entrants to the aviation industry an environment to connect and reach the pilot stage. Airline and value chain members have the opportunity to identify focus areas and select and engage with solutions providers/startups.

Along with helping the members identify focus areas, IATA provides startup onboarding through mentorship, office space, and a robust aviation industry curriculum taught by IATA SMEs, for the duration of the program, in order to attract best-in-breed startups. Together, IATA and Plug and Play source the startups for the program and provide resources to help kickstart pilots. Accelerate@IATA has Project Management resources to help the accelerator Partners and startups test and implement technologies faster.
