In 2025, IATA is focusing its advocacy efforts on the following topics.

Blocked Funds

Raise awareness of negative impact of blocked funds on connectivity and economic growth. Work with local governments and member airlines to understand the impacts and seek remedies. If necessary, use media to apply pressure to governments to reduce the amounts being held.

Consumer Regulation

Communicate and advocate for consumer protection regulations that align closely with globally recognized standards, supporting consistency, transparency, and fairness for passengers and airlines.

CORSIA Eligible Emissions Units (EEUs)

Advocate for a stronger CORSIA implementation, ensuring robust policies on EEUs, exclusivity, national alignment, and IATA’s position on Lower Carbon Aviation Fuels & CORSIA Eligible Fuels.

Data Privacy

Advocate for aviation-specific regulations, harmonized data protection laws, and policies that enable biometrics and digital identity adoption.

Digital Identity

Support adoption of globally harmonized and interoperable digital ID standards by governments through promoting benefits - efficiency, security, pax experience.

Supply Chain

Raise awareness of aviation supply chain challenges and efforts to enhance resilience, support airlines, and engage policymakers.

Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF)

Increase awareness of the barriers to SAF development as the primary driver for aviation decarbonization, while positioning key net-zero facilitation programs as essential enablers of the industry’s transition.

Taxation

Advocate for lower aviation taxes by highlighting economic benefits and promoting a globally harmonized tax approach.
